An Update on Fly Creek from 98 Committee Chair

December 29, 2015

On December 29th the Planning Staff told us that the Fly Creek amendment will be re-presented at the February 1, 2016 Planning Commission meeting. The Staff also informed us that there is no change in the amendment for this re-presentation from what was rejected by the commission in December.

This is unprecedented!

It is no secret that Arthur Corte gave the mayor a very difficult time during the break at December's meeting because of the vote. So, the mayor is bringing it back. And here's why.

The Council has a rotating voting representative on the Planning Commission. Mike Ford, who voted against the amendment rotates off the Commission and we have reliable information that the next in line to replace him is Kevin Boone. And thus, the fix is in.

History has shown that when faced by a large number of people with a keen interest in the subject at hand, the Planning Commission and/or the Council is more likely to take notice of their objections than otherwise.

It is vital that our attendance at the February 1st meeting meet or beat our attendance in December. Please mark your calendars now. It's at 5:00 p.m. at the Civic Center. We will take this fight to the City Council Chambers if/when we have to as well. Now is not the time to let our guard down.

The 98 Committee will be working on strategies on how best to counter this unprecedented move by the mayor. We will keep you posted on any developments.
